What Can I Do For My Preschool Circle Time Using The Theme Of Family Activities?

I was wondering if anyone had any creative ideas on teaching about family activities. I’m doing my circle time on this topic and would like any suggestions. Thanks :)

Have every child try to draw their family. then have them share it with everyone.

Fingerplays are always fun. You can find theme related fingerplays on most early childhood websites.
Sing the song: Where Is Thumbkin. It ends with where’s the whole family. If you need the words, let me know.
Read books about different families, including animals and other cultures.
A fun activity is to give each child a white cardstock tree pattern to take home with printed directions that they are to sit down as a family and make their child’s family tree. Be sure to stress that this is an activity for the entire family to do together. Also that everyone needs to participate, because their child will get a chance to talk about their family tree to their classmates. Encourage them to use any nonedible items, photos, craft items, etc. and their imagination. Give them a date to return the finished projects. Then spend some of your circle time letting each child show off and talk about their family. You will probably want to spread this over several days time.

Ask parents to bring in pictures of the kids with their families…make a book and allow the children to read it…..have each child have a special day where they can bring in family things…or even a family member…you could have the family member do an activity that their family does..like a special cooking project or game they play at home.
Read books about all different families..talk about how there are all different families and what makes up a family.
Have kids draw pictures of their family….talk about them at Circle time.
hope these ideas help you….have fun

Have each child choose an animal to represent their favorite family memeber. This always turn out cute, and their reasons are always worth a giggle. Plus moms and dads get a kick out of being comparied to a turtle or lion or dog!
This also teaches kids about comparisons and symbols!
Use examples like “timmy, i think your a tiger, becuase your big and strong” “sally your a kitten, becyase your cute and cuddly” They will quickly get the idea. This puts their brains on a higher leveal!
Please answer my day care question!

You could do a project where you get together and do something that a family does like a board game, or like watching tv or something that involves working together.
