What Is The Best Way To Store Board Games?

We have truckloads of board games so a rubbermaid tub just won’t fit them all. Any suggestions?

metal will scar your board game boxes. (If you are worried about keeping them in any kind of decent condition) Get wooden shelves, like you would keep books on, but some what wider. Climate control is important, not to smoke around them and such. Low humidity. This of course again, is if you are planning on keeping them in great condition. If you really dont care, shove in closets and under beds.

Try and get rid of the ones that you don’t use. get a shelf and put it in your laundry room or bedroom. We have three shelves full of ours. The ones that you hardly use but would still like to keep could go into storage boxes or the Garage, Attic,

We have tons and tons of board games. For most of the ones with little parts, we use ziploc baggies to keep the small parts from getting lost before we put them in the box. I have several sets of particle board shelves and a baker’s rack type shelving to organize and store them. If there are card type games, i will put them in a plastic “shoe box” sized container with labels printed off the computer. I have organized them on the shelves according to the type of game, such as strategy, party, etc. Try going to Wal-mart to look for shelves. I got a 4 shelf unit for about 20 bucks a piece.

I’m a member of a boardgame group that meets weekly and I know a few obsessed boardgamers who also have truckloads of boardgames. Most of them have bought bakers racks (chrome wire shelving) for storage. But of course you have to have the space for the shelving and be willing to look at bakers racks full of games scattered around your house. If you can’t go that route, ebay is a good place to sell used boardgames.

Rubbermaid containers would be the best solution. I have games from the 50’s and 60’s and the containers work great in preserving the games. Also you may want to put a silica pack in each bin. It absorbs moisture so it retards the decay of the boxes from falling apart.

We have an entire closet devoted to board games. Unfortunately, we’re running out of space even at that. Perhaps build so bookshelves that could hold them.
