Unplanned Pregnancy?

i was just wondering, i’ve had a lot of friends and girls i know get pregnant and i was wondering if you’ve had an unplanned pregnancy, was it because it was your fault or not?
how many of you became pregnant because of failure in birthcontrol or condoms?
how many of you became pregnant because you didn’t use the birthcontrol correctly?
and how many of you became pregnant just out of stupidity or ignorance?

I got pregnant with my son when I was 20. I had been on the birth control pill (Nordette btw) for a year and a half. I’m still not sure why exactly the pill failed me, whether it was human error or the fact that I had been sick on on some medication the weeks prior to conception. Either way, here I am a single mother (broke up w/ the father 7mos ago) with a 19mo old baby boy! It’s a big transition, but I love my son and wouldn’t undo a thing.

Most women become pregnant because like men, we enjoy sex, but unlike men, even if we use contraception, we risk the possibility of becoming pregnant and having to deal with the consequences whereas a man can walk away until recently with the new DNA tests. Again, if a man wants to he can ignore the court decision to take care of the child and leave the country, a woman has to risk a more serious consequence of mortality if she aborts the child in an effort to leave the child. Fortunately, today she can leave the child at a hospital or a firestation and many couples wish to adopt children, but still there are the 9 months of carrying the baby.
I had a student once that was raped by her step father. I had another raped by a baseball team. I had another date raped (no, she didn’t want it!). But those were all females. I also had a male student raped by his aunt. The difference is the girls became pregnant and had to deal with the mental duress. The boy had only to deal with the duress. So, girls get a double whammy.

i am currently pregnant with a suprise baby. it wasnt out of ignorance or stupidity, it was for medical reasons that for a year and a half, we didnt have to use any form of protection, then within a month of prescription medication, we got pregnant. I cant take BC and yes, we sometimes forgot the condom, but its not like we didnt want children, we just didnt think we were going to have one this soon. A lot of pregnancies are unplanned due to improper use of bc control pills or condoms breaking, or yes pure stupidity, but this is a situation where, our religous background is completely against it, but we are taking responsibility for our actions and are excited and dont believe we are ignorant or acted stupid. There isnt anything wrong with it. Its like people saying that its wrong to have a baby out of wedlock, more and more people are doing it,( not only poor people, but rich people too)because marriage doesnt hold as high of a value to people now a days as it used to.

My pregnancy was planned. Why would you say “out of stupidity or ignorance”? That is just rude.

My first pregnancy was unplanned and unwanted. I was on the pill, my bf used a condom. Condom broke. Found out the brand of pill I was on was still in its early stages and was hardly effective at all. They recalled it two months after our “accident”.

I am currently experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, and while it was due to birth control pill failure (I didn’t skip any puills or take them late or use antibiotics…I’m just the lucky 1% I guess!), but I wouldn’t say that it “wasn’t my fault”, because anytime you have sex you take the chance of getting pregnant, and I knew that, and I had sex. If you want to be truely safe, besides not having sex, you should use a hormonal method AND a barrier method, and I guess if I would have used a condom, too, then I wouldn’t be pregnant right now. But you know what? I already love my son, and I’m so glad for whatever happy accident I or the universe made.

Yay…a fun question to answer. Here’s the story. I was 19 and IN LOVE. We were planning on getting married in about a year, and I had just put off going back to my doc for a new birth control presciption. I was moving and wanted to find a new doc in the area. So, I figured I had a pretty regular cycle, we could use the rythm method until I got on the pill.(that’s when you count days to figure out when you’re ovulating and don’t have sex .) I was in nursing school then, and thought I was pretty well educated for my age. Well, it worked. Sorta. The problem was that I actually completely forgot that I was ovulating, there was a big snow storm and well, now my son is starting kindergarten in the fall. We got married and had 2 more planned babies after that. (both boys) Hope that helps.
